The Director of IDRAK is Scott Morrison. Scott has worked in seven countries including Turkey, Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE), and Doha (Qatar). After earning a doctorate from Columbia University in 2004, he undertook a first stint in Britain as Muhammad Bin Ladin Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Islamic Studies. He qualified as a barrister (Gray’s Inn), in 2012. Scott writes and speaks in national and international venues on Islamic commercial law, and banking and finance consonant with it. He is currently in the School of Law of Middlesex University in London teaching company and contract law and other commercial legal subjects. He has published with Barrister Magazine, Practical Law Magazine, The Journal of International Banking Law and Regulation and authored the Law of Sukuk: shari’a compliant securities. Scott’s key aim in founding IDRAK is for Islamic principles to become more widely known as he believes they have much to teach the world of finance and banking and much to offer Muslim individuals and societies.

The Language Consultant for IDRAK is Ghada El Gemaiey, who is based in Cairo. Ghada earned her doctorate in Islamic Archaeology at Cairo University’s Faculty of Archaeology (2009), where she is now Assistant Professor and teaches a variety of topics relating to Islamic architecture in Asia and the Middle East, aesthetics and art history. Her research specialism and the topic of her scholarly publications is cultural heritage and property in Islam. Ghada has acted as consultant and visiting lecturer for interfaith youth training in Thailand, community organiser in Malaysia and writer for an NGO in Indonesia.
