On Honourifics

Without implying or intending any disrespect to people of the Islamic or any other faith the UK Islamic finance law webpage and blog omits the customary terms of respect and honor ( — such as ‘may God bless him and give him peace,’ ‘may God be pleased with him’ — that follow the names of the founding prophet of Islam, Muhammad, as well as other prophets and figures recognised by Islam such as Adam, Moses, Jesus as well as those exclusive to Islam. Many authors writing on Islamic law, including those committed practitioners and scholars working in the area of Islamic banking and finance retain these terms. However as this webpage is intended for practitioners without regard to their religious beliefs (or lack thereof) the retention of such terms would result in unhelpful prolixity.
