New York Times on Islamic investing

Tom Verde writes in the New York Times ‘Retirement Savings, the Muslim Way’ (30 June 2017): ‘the global Islamic financial sector is healthy and growing.’ The article quotes and cites some Muslim investors, their reasons for preferring this mode of finance, and some basic Islamic doctrinal commitments. He also notes that ‘financial service managers are addressing the retirement savings needs — and dollars — of a growing number of observant Muslim-Americans, now about 1 percent of the population’ citing 2009 and 2011 surveys regarding the incomes and professional status of this demographic — a demographic which is ‘as likely as other Americans to earn incomes in excess of $100,000.’
